An Enduring Power of Guardianship (EPG) is a legal document under which you appoint a trusted person/s (usually a family member or close friend) to make decisions about personal, lifestyle or medical treatment decisions on your behalf.
An EPG can be revoked at any point in time so should your relationship with a person who you have appointed as your guardian deteriorate (or you hold concerns about their ability to act in your best interests), then you can revoke their status as your guardian. The benefit of an EPG is that it will continue to operate even if you lose legal capacity. An EPG does not permit your guardian to make decisions about your property and financial affairs.
Austral Legal’s ForwardThinker services provide fixed fee pricing for EPG’s and you may also like to consider booking our SmartMove initial 30-minute discounted consultation to discuss any queries you may have about EPG’s before making the decision as to whether or not to proceed.
