Plea of guilty in the Magistrates Court

Plea of guilty in the Magistrates Court

If you are planning on entering a plea of guilty to a charge/s being dealt with a registry of the Magistrates Court in the South West (including Bunbury, Busselton, Collie, Harvey, Manjimup, & Margaret River) then you may like to consider getting some practical advice beforehand.

A well structured and delivered plea in mitigation on your behalf, backed up by relevant supporting documents (such as references and a letter from an employer etc) can make all the difference at your sentencing (see our ‘Articles’ section which contains a detailed post on this topic).

Austral Legal can assist with advice and representation as required and in the vast majority of cases, can do so on a fixed fee basis. In the first instance we recommend booking an initial SmartMove 30-minute discounted consultation for $80. It is also helpful if you can provide all of the documents which the Police have served on you so that we understand the charge/s against you.

Once we understand your charges and your individual circumstances, we can then likely provide advice as to potential sentence outcomes (including any statutory minimums and maximums) what your next steps are and what your legal costs will be if you elect to instruct us. This means that there will be no hidden surprises down the track at the conclusion of your matter.
